Affording LASIK

You Have Options When it Comes to Affording LASIK

affordable-lasik.jpg

The cost of LASIK is sometimes a roadblock for people considering this procedure. However, if you compare the one-time cost of LASIK to the ongoing expenses of replacement contact lenses and glasses, LASIK is usually more cost-effective in the long run. Plus, you get to enjoy life with clearer vision, and it’s hard to put a price tag on that.

LASIK procedures are typically not covered by insurance because they are considered “elective.” To help you afford better vision through LASIK, the Eye Laser Center of Northern Colorado offers 0% interest LASIK financing for 24 months through CareCredit® for balances over $1,000.

LASIK Costs

LASIK pricing (per eye)

LASIK™; customized blade-less with Intralase blade-free technology (includes a 3-year enhancement commitment)

CustomVue® PRK (includes a 2-year enhancement commitment)

$2,295

LASIK™; customized blade-less with Intralase blade-free technology (includes lifetime enhancement policy)

$2,595

All prices include pre-and post-operative care; office visits at 1 Day, 1 Week, 1 Month, 6 Months and 1 Year.

Payment for your procedure is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. If full payment cannot be made at the time of service, we offer the following payment options for balances over $200:

  • 90 days same as cash
  • 3 equal payments to be received monthly for non-elective procedures

“Cheap” LASIK

If you are considering a LASIK provider that is offering the procedure for less than $600 per eye, double check the fine print before you have the procedure. These centers often charge extra for pre- and post-operative care, and you may not have the right vision characteristics to receive the low price. When you start tacking on extra charges, you may end up paying the same amount or more for LASIK performed by inexperienced surgeons using inferior technology.

Using Flex Plans to Save Money on LASIK

You can save money on LASIK by enrolling in your company’s Flex Plan. Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to put part of your pre-tax earnings into an account to use for medical expenses incurred during a specific time frame. There are specific rules surrounding these accounts, so make sure you know all of the details of your plan before enrolling.

Tips for Using Flex Plans for LASIK

  1. Have a surgeon determine if you are a good LASIK candidate by having a LASIK Consultation. Knowing the specific LASIK procedure you need will allow you to determine the cost and begin saving the right amount in your account.
  2. Find out your company’s open enrollment deadline to sign up for Flexible Spending Accounts.
  3. Use your saved money within the time frame of the program so you don’t lose what you have saved.

Please call the Eye Laser Center of Northern Colorado with any questions about Flex Plans, financing and how to get the best price for your procedure.
